Yes Emma, It's the Eyes!

Now that we told the kids I'm having another baby (due Jan 1st) Emma keeps asking what we are having.  This was our conversation on the way to my parent's house yesterday.  

"Mom, is it a baby brother or sister?"

"We don't know yet, babe."

"How do you tell if it is a boy or girl?"

Michael then proceeds to explain how an ultrasound works, etc, etc.

Meanwhile, Emma is confused and asks, "So can you see if it's a boy or girl with that thing?"

"Yes you can."

"How?"

Um...."How do you think you can tell the difference?"  (Brilliant Mommy answer, right?)

Emma answers way fast, "It's the eyes, isn't it?"

Yes Emma, it's the eyes.

Fast forward a few minutes...

"What about the hair?  If it's long it's a girl and if it's short it's a boy?"

Michael says, "Well actually, Aden had the most hair out of you three."

"Oh. OK."  At this point Emma is bored and the conversation moves on.  Bullet dodged...for now. I'm so not ready for THAT conversation.
